Getting Ready for Sunday Church Service!!!

The pew chairs had to be unpacked, vacuumed and set up!

Round tables for the parish hall needed unpacking.

We had a crew in the old kitchen packing up while others unpacked in the new kitchen. Look at all those cupboards!

Praise be to God! We were able to have our Wednesday night lenten service in the new sanctuary! Plans were to use the education wing as we had planned on setting up the pew chairs after the lenten service! But our volunteers provided a miracle and had them set up in time for the service!

The sanctuary all set up for Sunday worship!

Young fathers will be very pleased to know that there is a change table in the Men's washroom!

The rocking chair in the crying room is ready for use!

Mrs. Hermanson has her Sunday School room ready for Sunday School on March 9th.

The youth got to bring their favourite, comfortable furniture to the new church.

The Kindergarten classroom is also ready!

The Hopkins unloading the trollies for the kitchen. Jim made all four for us!

Look at all the space in our new kitchen!

Maureen is all smiles in her new office!

The Sunday School tables get a good scrubbing before going into the individual rooms.

Every corner must be cleaned! Here, Darlene reaches the high corners of the entrance windows.

Chairs and Tables arrive Mar. 1

On Saturday, March 1 at 8 am a number of volunteers showed up to unload all the pew chairs for the sanctuary, and all the tables and chairs for the parsh hall, in a little over an hour! They had quite the assembly line going!

Out of the truck and onto the trolley!

Into the Sanctuary!

Our pastor's wife has to be able to play the organ, teach Sunday School, lead ELW AND UNPACK CHAIRS!!!! Way to go Sherryl!

Margo and Jorgen were there to load up all the cardboard and and it to recycle!

And then the good part! Elaine helps serve up the pancake breakfast and Lorne is first in line!

The truck driver even joined us!

The new round table was put to good immediate use!

Thanksgiving at the Disposition of a Church Building

In our final service at our old church building (March 2nd, 2008), we had a time of thanksgiving and remembrance, celebrating our past as we look forward to our future in our new church home. Pastor Art Solheim shared the history of our congregation, other members of the congregation (including Carolie Haug, Maureen Weiterman, and Lorne Hovdestad) shared their memories, and the cornerstone of the old building was opened. Video below - running time approximately 35 minutes.

Last Service this Sunday

This Sunday, March 2, will mark the last service in our old church. We will celebrate with communion and a disposition of the old church building at the end of the service. We will then gather downstairs for a pot luck lunch.
March 9th will be our first regular church service in the new church. We will once again celebrate with communion followed by coffee and fellowship. There will only be one service at 11:15 on both these Sundays.
The evening lenten service on Wednesday March 5 will be in the new church in the education wing. Join us if you can!

First Council Meeting in New Church!

The Church Council met for the first time in the new church! It was also the first meeting after the new council was elected at our Feb. 9 annual meeting. The only new member to council was Brenda Scholar who endeared herself to the rest of us by bringing chocolate, chocolate cookies!!!

A lot of progress has taken place this past week. Ladies were busy cleaning while the men were busy putting up bulletin boards, hanging doors and setting up shelving. Pr. Daryl and Maureen started moving into their new space and there are some toys in the Nursery room! New chairs and tables will arrive soon. The sound people have been busy installing speakers etc. and will complete the job after we have had our last service in the new church this Sunday.

Almost Ready!

Things are really starting to come together at the new church. The flooring should be installed today and a few ladies are going to clean the two offices tomorrow. Pr. Daryl and Maureen should be able to move in next week! We should be cleaning all next week and hopefully, do the majority of the move the following week.

The kitchen sink is in but needs to connected. Appliances and cleaning will be next!

The glass is installed between the fireside lounge and parish hall.

The carpet is going down in the sanctuary.

The laminate flooring is down in the office areas. Baseboards and cleaning should complete this area! Pr. Daryl and Maureen are very anxious to move in!
